FLYING TO SUPPORT THE FORCES CHILDRENS TRUST

In 2011 after a few teething problems we held the very first DRURIDGE BAY FLY IN on a slightly dull October day on the Northumbrian Coast. This was followed by the event in 2012 being held in August after some of the worst flying weather in memory. In 2013 the weather was finally excellent and 87 aircraft attended. In 2015 we had a record 90 aircraft fly in to this increasingly popular event.
We are dependant on the good will of the local farmer who allows us to use the field and as a consequence we have to fit in with agricultural matters. Therefore a fixed date is difficult to achieve for the Fly In which is why we have a registration section so we can keep you up to date with the event. As a rough guide we will hold the fly in June-July after the field is cut for silage.
Druridge Bay is a 7 mile long stretch of beach which is one of the UKs best kept secrets. It is an area of outstanding beauty and rich in wildlife.
Druridge Country Park sits alongside the Bay and offers members of the public an area of recreation, the main feature of which is a man made lake surrounded by trees. The park has a centre which has a cafe and toilet facilities. The Park sometimes attracts 3000 visitors in a day.
NORTHERN AVIATORS along with staff at Druridge Country Park combine to put together a fun flying event in a large farmers field just north of the park.
The aim of this is to enjoy the experience of landing at the coast have a bit of a social and to raise money for the FORCES CHILDRENS TRUST. Aviators are asked to make a donation of their choice upon landing at the venue.
We have to be a bit flexible on the dates for the Fly In as already mentioned.
This year we hope to have a 2 day Fly In over a weekend with a BBQ, Camping, a beach bonfire and a few beers. Fuel runs will be available from the local garage at Amble which is 3 miles away. The site is an ideal base to explore the beautiful Northumberland Coastal and surrounding area which is steeped in history.
You can register to attend this event on the last section of this website. Once you are registered we will update you on the event and the Fly In dates. Be assured we will not pass on your details to any third parties.
